ALCAP President Greg Davis was joined by Bobbi Radeck of Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Alabama. They discuss the Concerned Women for America platform and Radeck’s Encourage-a-Legislator Program that facilitates prayer to encourage our legislators.
Bobbi Radeck began by sharing her story of how she ended up living in Marshall County, and then proceeded to discuss the history and mission of Concerned Women for America. The organization was founded on prayer over four decades ago, as founder Beverly LaHaye was concerned with the moral and spiritual direction of the country. Eventually, this movement grew into what CWA is today nationally, which seeks to protect and promote Biblical values and Constitutional principles through prayer, education, and advocacy.
They then moved to her Encourage-a-Legislator Program, which is designed for people to pray for and uplift their legislators. It is not lobbying; the goal is spiritual and salvific. Greg Davis mentioned that those who work in government are human, too. They have aging parents, or children who are going through difficult circumstances. They need our prayers because they are normal people.
Bobbi Radeck explained how the program works: An interested citizen is provided the name and address of an assigned legislator, and he/she commits to praying for them daily, if possible, while the legislature is in session, and then he/she mails an EAL postcard bi-week to the assigned legislator until the session’s conclusion.
