Victory for Alabama and ALCAP: Lawsuit against VCAP Law Dismissed

ALCAP and a few other like-minded organizations have scored a major legal victory following the recent voluntary dismissal of a federal lawsuit that challenged the state’s Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act (VCAP). This 2022 law bans the use of puberty blockers, hormone treatments, and gender transition surgeries for individuals under 19. Originally blocked by a court injunction, the law was allowed to take effect after the Eleventh Circuit Court reversed that decision in 2023. With the lawsuit––which targeted ALCAP and others––now officially dropped, the state can fully enforce the legislation. This is a victory for Alabama and for minors who can no longer be physically abused by the medical system under the guise of “gender-affirming healthcare.”
