Alabama’s Secretary of State, Wes Allen, recently called into Priority Talk Radio to talk with ALCAP President Greg Davis about the passing of his bipartisan legislation (SB142) codifying his Alabama Voter Integrity Database (AVID) into law and providing for measures ensuring that only those individuals who should be allowed to vote are able to vote.
The legislation is intended to strengthen election security by ensuring the accuracy of voter rolls. According to Allen, maintaining a clean and accurate voter file is essential to upholding the integrity of elections. He emphasized that the enactment of this bill represents a step forward for all Alabama voters.
This bill (now law) formally establishes the Alabama Voter Integrity Database (AVID), a system developed and implemented by Allen, as the official mechanism for maintaining the state’s voter records. The bill also eliminates the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) from Alabama’s list of approved voter registration systems.
