ALCAP President and Priority Talk Host Greg Davis welcomed Jennifer Rash, President and Editor-in-Chief of TAB Media Group, onto the show to discuss the Department of Justice (DOJ) recently closing its sex abuse investigation into the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). The DOJ did not bring any sexual abuse-related charges against the denomination or its affiliated entities.
The investigation, launched in August 2022, stemmed from an external report by Guidepost Solutions that documented allegations of mishandled sexual abuse claims within the SBC. The inquiry examined various aspects of the denomination’s response to these claims, but ultimately, no charges were brought against its leadership or organizations.
Despite the broad scope of the probe, the only legal action taken was against a former Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary professor. He pleaded guilty to making false statements to federal investigators.
