Dr. Paul Cleveland on the History of the American Education System

Dr. Paul Cleveland, Professor of Finance at Birmingham-Southern College for more than 30 years, recently joined ALCAP President Greg Davis on Priority Talk to talk about the closing of the university and some of the events that led to its current situation. They then moved on to discuss the struggling state of the American education system, and Paul explains why he believes our education system is actually successful:

“Our public school set up was designed as a means of indoctrinating students and not educating students… It’s doing what it was supposed to do,” Cleveland said.

Paul delved into certain aspects of the history of our public education system. He started with the early 1800s and the Unitarians taking control of Harvard, and then proceeded through the 1900s and the increase in faithlessness in our schools.
