Vaping marijuana continues to dramatically increase in popularity among teens, according to numbers from the latest Monitoring the Future study. “Vaping” is the use of an e-cigarette to inhale vapors from nicotine, marijuana or flavorings.

About 37 percent of 12th graders admitted to “vaping” within the last year; an increase from 27.8 percent in 2017.

In addition, 13.1 percent of 12th graders reported vaping marijuana within the past year — an increase from the 9.5 percent in 2017.

Researchers have been conducting this survey each year since 1975. This year, they surveyed over 44,000 8th, 10th, and 12th graders across the country about their drug use.
